My first Cavalier, Madam Palindrome, was born on 9 November 1977 and died on 26 April 1993

I still miss her. She was a dog of strong character, very loving and great fun. I bought her from friends of my parents, simply because I had fallen in love with her mother as an eight week old puppy. The owner of Madam’s father persuaded me to breed from her, prompted, possibly, by the fact that he became a champion not long after Madam’s birth. I registered my English affix, Jasenil. Madam’s first litter consisted of dogs, and I couldn’t keep a male at that time. In her second litter was the very pretty Jasenil Jacinth, nicknamed Tipsy, who won her first Best Cavalier Puppy award at eleven months. After that, I became hooked on showing!

We moved to France in 1997, and I had to choose another affix: Du Nid du Faisan. Most of our dogs have Madam in their ancestry, albeit quite a few generations back. We are a small family of Cavaliers, and all our dogs live in the house with us. I’m pleased to say that all our dogs have gained “recommandé” status, Catemmsal Bete Noire (AKA Hazel) is now "Elite A".  We're also proud of dogs we've bred: notably Swedish CH Jasenil Erythea and Finnish, Swedish and Estonian CH Bacchante du Nid du Faisan.  We thank all their owners for their kindness and dedication.  Erythea's son, Swedish CH Campanards Nugget, mated to a daughter of Jasenil Rod Moln, Nordic CH Campanards Ginnie, produced Swedish CH. Campanards Purple Rose.  Purple Rose was top Cavalier in Sweden in 1999, the only wholecolour ever to have achieved this.

"Du Nid du Faisan" is a signatory of the "Charte de Qualité" of the French Cavalier Club.  We bred only from dogs who are within the guidelines for health tests and who have obtained a certain level of success in the show ring at breed specialties.; i.e. placed in their classes with the grade of “Excellent”.

I am no longer a breeder - I think if I still have dogs that live for more than 15 years I would be too old to take good care of them.  I do still have a couple of dogs I exhibit.
